Baby Teeth Help Develop Permanent Teeth

Did you know that your child’s baby teeth play an important role in the development and health of their smile?

Although they do eventually fall out, baby teeth are critical to a child’s dental development. They allow children to learn proper chewing, swallowing, and speaking habits, are crucial to jaw development, and play a role in guiding the permanent teeth into place once they erupt around age six. Teeth actually start to form before birth, and can begin eruption as early as four months of age. Typically, baby teeth finish erupting by age three, with permanent teeth starting to come in at age six. Even during childhood, kids of all ages should receive pediatric dentistry care to ensure their oral health is developing correctly.

Our Pediatric Dentistry Services

Educating Children And Parents Alike

We recommend that parents bring their child in to see Dr. Rebecca Bork for their first pediatric dentistry visit around their first birthday. While we may do little work on the teeth, this visit is important in establishing trust, familiarity, and helping them get accustomed to the routine of dental appointments. During this first pediatric dentistry visit, we provide education to both parents and children on their oral hygiene habits with baby teeth so a strong hygiene routine of brushing, flossing, and regular check-ups begins from a young age. Dr. Bork and our highly trained team have years of experience performing pediatric dentistry in Allen, TX, and we have the skills and the knowledge to make every visit to our office a pleasant experience for everyone.
